The BigCommerce Automation Manager operates in the Strategy & Operations organization and will manage the execution of all Marketing tactics, programs, and campaigns via our Marketing Automation Platform (MAP) Marketo (~70% of time),  as well as lead Strategic Business Initiatives & Projects (~30% of time). On top of project managing the day-to-day operations of Marketo, the Automation Manager is responsible for leading projects and developing process that ensure scalability, support  Database Marketing and Lead Lifecycle to enable the “gold standard” of marketing -- delivering the right message, to the right person, at the right time!

What You’ll Do:

  • Be a trusted consultant and business partner to our Marketing teams, providing them with email marketing best practices, process training, and opportunities for optimizations.
  • Champion new automation strategies and serve as the subject matter expert of our ancillary MARTECH platforms and system integrations to help support our cross-functional teams (Salesforce, UTMs, Drift Chat, GoToWebinar, Openprise,, Craft CMS - Web, etc.) 
  • Create positive change and efficiency gains for the organization via contribution to cross-functional projects, identifying risks and alternative solutions when needed. 
  • Build and optimize all aspects of campaign processes like email sends, nurture, triggered flows, landing pages, operational data management, maintenance programs, and more.
  • Contribute to the building of intricate, complex operational programs like Lead Scoring, Lead Routing & Lead Lifecycle that fuel velocity/aging metrics and Revenue Review business reporting.
  • Troubleshoot marketing technology issues, identify root causes, and create solutions and control mechanisms that will involve cross-departmental collaboration, including technology such as Marketo, Salesforce, Segment, Craft CMS, social media platforms, video and webinar solutions, and our internal databases.
  • Build synchronization between Marketo and Salesforce to manage proper lead flow, tracking, and reporting at each stage of the funnel.
  • Build and adjust template programs within our systems for scalability, efficiencies and ever-changing best practices.
  • Utilize strong critical thinking skills and advanced analytical logic to identify business problems and advocate for improvement.
  • Leverage basic HTML/CSS skills for the development of email and landing page templates.
  • Ensure database is maintained with high data integrity, proactively performing lead data cleaning initiatives

Who You Are:

  • 4+ years experience as an Admin for a Marketing Automation Platform, preferably Marketo (Marketo Certified Expert is a plus) with the ability to be the main power user for Marketo and additional martech critical platforms.
  • 5+ years of related industry experience
  • Extensive knowledge of marketing activities, operational programs, system structure, and data integrations.
  • Proven experience effectively structuring marketing automation data to enable rich analytics and optimization tactics in tools like Google Analytics, Bizible, and Tableau.
  • Critical thinker who can take an abstract, ambiguous request and use a systems-thinking approach to break it down into system logic and visualize a build.
  • Learner who’s always ready for more and is excited to continuously improve processes.
  • Service and “customers first” mentality, always looking to empower stakeholders to bring marketing strategies to life.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for learning optimal process and best practice implementation, while simultaneously leveling up thinking to see the bigger picture.
  • Team-first mentality with a passion to learn the critical disciplines of Marketing Automation, Database Marketing, Inbound Marketing Methodology, Lead Lifecycle, and Data Orchestration.
  • Ability to lead by example, train, coach, and mentor cross-functional teams and junior Automation developers.
  • Possess an understanding of the current MarTech and ABM landscape.
  • Ability to multitask, manage time effectively across priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Salesforce with exceptional knowledge of the Marketing and Sales Funnel.
